None. Exam time: 10–45 minutes.

Barium Enema (BE)

Fluoroscopy exam of the large intestine using barium for detailed imaging of inflammation, polyps, or tumors.

Preparation

  • Pick up prep kit by noon the day before.
  • Clear liquid diet and laxatives starting at noon.
  • No food/drink after midnight.

Fluoroscopy

Live X-ray imaging for real-time internal views, often used with a contrast agent like barium.

Upper GI Series (UGI)

X-ray study of the stomach and esophagus using barium to detect ulcers, hernias, or blockages.

Preparation

No food or drink after midnight. Bring empty bottle if infant.
