DEXA scans are quick, painless, and non-invasive tests that measure bone density, helping detect osteoporosis early. Most commonly used in postmenopausal women, but also recommended for men and others at risk of bone loss.

Recommended for

  • Postmenopausal women
  • Individuals with family history or prior fractures
  • People taking bone-loss related medications
  • Those with thyroid, liver, kidney issues

Preparation

Avoid calcium for 24 hours and no barium studies within 1 week.
